The Wild midWest

Some people backpack the globe to find themselves. I moved to Wisconsin.

Someone make plans for Lauren and I for New Year’s Eve, please.

whatwhatwhat:

We’ll be in Chicago. We don’t want to spend $150 on cover for a club. We want to look cute/nice but we don’t want to be uncomfortable. We also want to drink a lot and dance and not get judged or inappropriately touched. We basically want the perfect storm of a night out. Anyone have any suggestions? It’s never too early to put that proverbial thinking cap on.

my party. in wicker park. alternatively, an 80s/90s dance party at a Madison concert venue. 20 bucks. free overnight accommodations.

Things That I Wish Were “A Thing” Sometimes, Volume I:

  • When people are up on their high horses, they are literally up on a high horse…so that I can kick them off. Also literally. Welcome down here with the rest of us, buddy!

This is why I never invited you to watch me ride horses throughout high school.

(also, its painfully boring to watch unless I fall off; and then its just painful)

Worst of all, this is a vision that says even though America can’t afford to invest in education or clean energy; even though we can’t afford to care for seniors and poor children, we can somehow afford more than $1 trillion in new tax breaks for the wealthy. Think about it. In the last decade, the average income of the bottom 90% of all working Americans actually declined. The top 1% saw their income rise by an average of more than a quarter of a million dollars each. And that’s who needs to pay less taxes? They want to give people like me a two hundred thousand dollar tax cut that’s paid for by asking thirty three seniors to each pay six thousand dollars more in health costs? That’s not right, and it’s not going to happen as long as I’m President.

President Obama

Wow. Our president sounds like Senator Bernie Sanders.

Thats exciting, but I as your best friend in the entire world haven’t heard of that either.

Forgive me? I did bring you such wonderful life moments as that time I was eating soup, then wasn’t.

On Saturday, February 19th, the House of Representatives voted 235-189 to pass a continuing resolution that eliminates funding for public broadcasting. I put together this handy chart on why PBS is worth saving. Find out how you can fight back at 170 Million Americans.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I am Creative Director for PBS KIDS but a life-long supporter/watcher of PBS ;)

And those who say that PBS’s preschool content can be replaced by commercial television are kind of wrong. Their programs are actually thoroughly researched every step of the way to ensure that they are effectively teaching young children, and as illustrated briefly in this graphic, the effects are pretty staggering.
