We’ll be in Chicago. We don’t want to spend $150 on cover for a club. We want to look cute/nice but we don’t want to be uncomfortable. We also want to drink a lot and dance and not get judged or inappropriately touched. We basically want the perfect storm of a night out. Anyone have any suggestions? It’s never too early to put that proverbial thinking cap on.

When people are up on their high horses, they are literally up on a high horse…so that I can kick them off. Also literally. Welcome down here with the rest of us, buddy!
This is why I never invited you to watch me ride horses throughout high school.
(also, its painfully boring to watch unless I fall off; and then its just painful)

In the wake of that devastating Penguins game 7, at least we’re not Cleveland.
But seriously, for my home-away-from-home’s sake, I hope LeBron stays.

A whole new city.
Its finally spring time* in Copenhagen. Today, I was able to ride my bike without freezing by the time I get home. On Sunday, I managed to get a sunburn (although, to be fair Sean and I were outside from 8-4pm without a single break)
The city is like a whole new place; people are out, the sun is shining, and its hard to believe the gorgeous lakes outside of my house were actually frozen just a...

Travel porn!
This is so impressive. I’ve managed 6 days in a single carry on, but 10 days is friggen awesome.
Fun Fact
Did you know that you can rent a military, complete with infantry, armored vehicles, tanks, and air support? Sierra Leone payed $35m for one to stave off the RUF during their civil war.
Maybe a good mothers day present?
ugh. its 2:20 am, and I’m 6 pages into my war crimes & human rights final. Its taking so much longer than I had planned, but its actually pretty interesting. I’m...
Seniority
Today was my last day of classes; I am two papers and one final away from being an official senior. A large group of my friends are graduating in just days from the big CWRU (with Katie Couric as their commencement speaker. How cool is that?) and its freaking me out just a little that I have one year to go until I’m a real-live person!
Joanna and I were talking about this last night, how we...
Luck of the Irish
Last week Sean and I headed to “the homeland” aka Ireland. It was awesome to hear our last name pronounced correctly, and to see that someone other than our family has a healthy appreciation for drinking songs and Jameson.
Of all the places I’ve visited on this trip, I’d say I liked Dublin best. It wasn’t the prettiest city (Brussels, I’m looking at you) or...

I just did 45 minutes of pilates and was looking for some yoga On Demand when I found this “hip hop” exercise thing that Cabe and I tried to do while I was visiting over Christmas. We both failed miserably at it, because despite having almost 10 years of dance under my belt, neither of us have any innate rhythm. I put it on, thinking “Oh it wasn’t THAT hard”. Within ten minutes I...

Granted, camels aren’t that prominent (and are definitely non-existant in the bumping metropolis of Istanbul) but that happened. My friend Cliff and I were exploring the Grand Bazaar; an absolute maze of shops and stands and touristy souvenirs. While the offerings may have been campy and junky and most likely mass-produced at some sweatshop, I couldn’t help but feel trapped in a time...

Tonight I saw my first ever Ballet. Sasha, Joanna, and I saw a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen. The fairies were dressed in skin-tight ethereal suits; but were interpreted so differently than I had imagined. I was pretty iffy on the plot line to begin with due to my aversion to all things Shakespeare, but the dancers...
Today I was talking with my roommates about how quickly this whole experience is flying by. Tomorrow marks the halfway point of my semester abroad; and i many ways, I feel like I’ve barely gotten started.
My expectations for this trip were sky high; and as I think about them now, I realize they are completely unrealistic. However, those disappointments have, in many ways, prevented me from...

So this past weekend was my first experience with the Copenhagen-ish night life. On Friday, I went to a cops & robbers party at my first kollegium (too soon?) and headed into the city to a bar called Barcelona. Joanna and I stayed there long after the other DIS kids left since we live literally down the street, and on our way home, we ran into some Danish medical students. They were awesome,...
