The Wild midWest

Some people backpack the globe to find themselves. I moved to Wisconsin.

Ask me anything

So I’ll finally update this…..

So this past weekend was my first experience with the Copenhagen-ish night life. On Friday, I went to a cops & robbers party at my first kollegium (too soon?) and headed into the city to a bar called Barcelona. Joanna and I stayed there long after the other DIS kids left since we live literally down the street, and on our way home, we ran into some Danish medical students. They were awesome, and took us to an all-night cafe (VERY Danish), and we sat around and talked and drank Carlsberg until 6am. From what I hear, that’s a pretty typical timeline for a Danish night out.

Saturday was our lil housewarming party. We probably had about 30-35 kids here, and everyone seemed to have a good time. They want us to have parties all the time now because we have such a good location. Anyway, post-party, sasha and I headed out to the “Happy Pig” which is where many DIS kids go. The line was long, and we saw a side door so we decided to be all sneaky and went in. The “side door” was actually another bar, but for a split second, we felt pretty bad-ass.

We decided to stay anyway since the place was cheap, and surfer-themed. We then proceeded to spend the night talking with two guys names Jonas & Jonas (the Jonas brothers?) and learned about Fastlavn (Scandinavian Halloween). They could not believe that Sasha and I were American and didn’t know how to surf. They also didn’t really grasp the concept that not everyone in America has a southern accent (or in their words, and “american” accent)

Here is a  pic: complete with Festelavn hat!

Monday was a normal class day, and yesterday, Sasha & I went to the Danish National Museum. It was pretty fun, and FREE. Our next museum day is RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT which I am so pumped about.
