No big deal, this is just me on a jumper pony, riding through the Danish forest surrounding a manor house. :)
So last sunday, I took the trip out to Hillerød to visit my DIS Visiting Family. Lisbeth, Henning, Elizabeth, and Amelie were the nicest people ever. I spent the day at their place experiencing Danish “hygge” firsthand, ate DELICIOUS traditional Danish food, and plenty of ice cream, pandekager, and tea. We had a Wii tournament, and I got my butt kicked (except in cow racing (no comment) and baseball. It is, after all, America’s game).
They live in the most adorable little farmhouse…its from the 1800’s, and they believe it was the home of farm workers associated with the gorgeous manor house across the street. They have four horses of their own, and Elizabeth is one of the best up-and-coming jumper riders in the country. She’s competing in the all-scandinavian cup in a month or so! She and I went for a ride across the street, and it was so great to be back on a horse and out on the trails again. When it gets warmer in the spring, I am going back and we’re going to go riding on the BEACH, and hitting the trails for some cross country jumping and galloping (they have perfectly manicured bridle paths that are 10x’s better than anything I’ve ridden on in the states).
This week is pretty crazy, I finally have actual work due, but I’ve got a ton of cool things coming up. Saturday AM I’m leaving for a week in Brussels & Frankfurt where I’ll be visiting the European Central Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and gorging myself on belgian waffles & chocolate. Friday night I’ll be taking a train to visit VERENA, and will be spending the weekend in Neuwied. I am beyond excited.
The following week its back to Copenhagen, then Sunday I get to go to the FC Copenhagen v. Brømby game. They have actual “firms” here. FIRMS. REAL, LIVE FIRMS…then tomorrow Alyssa & I are planning our trip to AMSTERDAM for the weekend of the 19th.
